ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a survivor. I was tired and overwhelmed of being blamed and told that I deserved to be attacked and needed to get over it; but in silence, because I am a woman. I felt powerless to act in the face of the rampant violence against women that has been a daily occurrence in my beloved Mexico and around the world.
However, I learned to focus my anger and deal with it through my work in the arts. I confront violence and advocate for gender equality and women empowerment. I create and work within my emotions; transmuting the pain, anger, my euphoria into the clay. I have not yet found a better storyteller, than her.
